Microneedling

Microneedling is one of the newer methods of improving your appearance by stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, skin laxity and scarring.

We use the Eclipse Micropen, which is a system that allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring.

The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin. Skin needling is done in a safe and precise manner with the use of a sterile micropen needle head that is disposed of after every use.

In terms of discomfort and down time; the skin is anesthetized with a topical anesthetic and basically the skin may look a little pink after the procedure is done and most people resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Contraindications to this procedure include keloid scars, history of eczema, psoriasis, history of actinic (solar) keratosis, history of herpes simplex, diabetes, raised moles or warts on the targeted areas. Absolute contraindications include scleoderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities, blood clotting problems, active bacterial or fungal infections, or immunosuppression. This is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.

PRECAUTIONS

Discontinuing auto-immune therapies, Retin-A 24 hrs before the procedure. Not to treat active acne, rosacea or other inflammation conditions. Not to treat open wounds.

For patients with facial outbreaks such as herpes, medications must be taken before and for 48hrs after the treatment. Microneedling is not to be done for six months after an Accutane regimen.
